THE TOWER

About The Bells

Our home tower

There is only one way to describe our home tower of All Saints Church Swanton Morley, and that's impressive. Stood on a hill at the edge of the village over looking the Wensum valley, the might bell tower soars 98ft into the sky dwarfing.

The first thing that you'll notice about the tower is likely to the huge bell windows, which stretch from just above the clock to just under the battlements at the top of the tower. Hidden behind the tower's huge belfry openings (often described as the largest when compared with many similar village churches) hang a peal of 6 bells. the tenor of which weighs in at just over 8cwt.

The six bells have a combined age of over 1610 years, with the oldest three bells having hung in the tower for 400 years! .

In this section you can discover more about the current bells which hang in the tower as well as the fascinating history of the tower and its bells.
